Harley James was founded in 2020 by Llewellyn V. Boyer-Cartwright, attorney and former commercial airline pilot. The firm provides bespoke legal and consulting services in The Bahamas in relation to Aviation and Private Client & Wealth management matters.

Founder

Llewellyn has been a practising attorney for over 27 years in The Bahamas and founded Harley James in 2020. His practice focuses on aviation law and private client and wealth management. He provides advice to international and domestic air carriers and private clients.

He has over 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry having been a commercial airline pilot. He is a licenced Air Transport Pilot and flew for the country’s national flag carrier, Bahamasair, and Laker Airways in the United States. He is also type-rated on the Boeing-747 (B747).

Llewellyn studied Law at the University of Buckingham in the UK where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) in 1993. He was admitted to both the Bar of England and Wales (Inner Temple) and the Bahamas Bar in 1994. Subsequently, he earned a master’s degree in Aviation Science in the US in 2004.
Prior to founding the firm, Llewellyn was a Partner in one of the country’s leading law firms. He then went on to set up Harley James recognising the need in The Bahamas to combine the two disciplines of Aviation and Law in order to propel the country’s aviation sector.

Over the years, he has become one of the country’s leading aviation attorneys and has been integral in the development and advancement of the aviation industry, including new legislation. Llewellyn has authored numerous articles, contributed several chapters to a leading publication and has spoken at international conferences with respect to aviation law in The Bahamas. His industry knowledge is unmatched, from a practical and regulatory aspect.

Llewellyn has held positions on various governmental and statutory bodies, including the Air Transport Advisory Board and the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB).

Kathryn has been with Harley James since its inception, bringing with her a vast wealth of experience.

Attorney - Compliance Officer

E. J. Maria Ageeb attended Keele University in the UK, graduating with a LLB (Hons) in 1999. She then completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law (now City Law School) and was called to the Bars of England and Wales and The Bahamas in 2002. In 2015 she took on the role of Compliance Officer at one of the country’s leading law firms along with her legal practice.

Ms. Ageeb specializes in Real Estate matters, namely the sale, purchase, transfer and financing of real property including related real property tax matters and issues and advising on and applying for all governmental and requisite approvals. She also has experience with Immigration matters including but not limited to making applications for Work Permits, Annual Residency Permits and Permanent Residency.

Ms. Ageeb serves as Compliance Officer for Harley James Law as well as Harley James Corp. Limited. She is a member of The Honourable Society of Middle Temple, The Bahamas Bar Association and the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers.
